Why do our users see the error message “Certificate failure. The connecting server is not presenting a valid certificate”?

This error message is displayed on Cisco Meeting Apps when the XMPP certificates, supplied by the Meeting Server, do not contain the domain name as a Subject Alternative Name (SAN) within the certificate.

Workaround: Tell your users to click Connect anyway to ignore the error message and continue connecting to the Meeting Server.

To prevent certificate failure messages: Ensure that all XMPP certificates, supplied by the Meeting Server, contain the domain name as a Subject Alternative Name (SAN) within the certificate, in addition the Common Name in the certificate must be the same as the FQDN.

Previous versions of the client did not verify the certificate and consequently did not display error messages when information was missing from certificates. Newer versions verify the information in all XMPP certificates.
